How to Make a Square Face Icon
1. Start with the head shape. Square, soft square, round, oval, wide, tall, pixel or cat. This decides the silhouette, and the silhouette is what people recognise at small sizes. Try three before committing.
2. Set the skin and base features. Skin tone, then eyes, eyebrows, nose and mouth. Work top to bottom — it’s easier to judge proportions in that order.
3. Layer hair and accessories. Hair, side hair, glasses, hats, clothes. Cat parts and extras go on last if you want them.
